Genus Lamarckia Family Poaceae

Description: Low tufted annuals; culms erect or decumbent at base, smooth.

Leaves with ligule membranous, elongated; blade flat, thin, narrow.

Inflorescence, paniculate, oblong, 1-sided, contracted. Spikelets pedicellate or subsessile, trimorphic, forming clusters of 1 fertile spikelet and several sterile spikelets, sterile spikelets sometimes of 2 forms; the cluster falls as a group; fertile spikelets concealed (except for awns) by the numerous sterile spikelets. Glumes narrow, subulate or acuminate, subequal, short-awned, 1-nerved, keeled.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 sp., Medit. region. Aust: 1 sp. (naturalized).
