Common name: Large-fruited Goodia
Goodia macrocarpa I.Thomps. APNI* Description: Shrub to 3 m high; stems pubescent.
Leaves not crowded; leaflets narrow-elliptic to elliptic, 20–30 mm long, glabrous above, pubescent below; petiole slender, 16–30 mm long.
Racemes to 9 cm long. Flowers 14–18 mm long; pedicels 3–10 mm long. Calyx 4.5–7 mm long, teeth of lower lip triangular, nearly equal in length to tube. Petals mostly bright yellow, red to almost black in throat. Ovary ± glabrous, 3–6-ovuled.
Pod oblong to oblong-elliptic, 20–40 mm long; aril with a divided base 1.2–1.5 mm long.
Flowering: late winter to spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows as a pioneer species in disturbed sites, often in sheltered valleys and on rainforest margins, N from Wingham. Grows in tall forests.
