Common name: Dyer's Greenweed
Genista tinctoria L. APNI* Description: Erect shrub to 2 m, stems glabrous to hairy.
Simple, elliptic to lanceolate, 1–4 cm long, 3–15 mm wide, glabrous or silky hairy on the margins. Stipules present, 1–2 mm long.
Soliary in leaf axils at ends of branches. Bracteoles present, to 1 mm long. Calyx 5–6 mm long, with short tooth-like lobes. Flowers 1–1.5 cm long.
Pods compressed, linear-lanceolate, 1.5–3 cm long, glabrous or pubescent. Seeds 4–12, pale brown, 2–2.5 mm long.
Flowering: summer
Distribution and occurrence: Only known from the vicinity of Orange. Formerly naturalized in Victoria. An occasional roadside weed, sometimes spreading into bushland.
