Cheirostylis ovata (F.M.Bailey) Schltr. APNI*
Description: Epilith or terrestrial herb with ± erect shoots 1–4 cm high.; rhizome 3–8 cm long, c. 10 mm diam.
Leaves 3–7 per shoot; lamina ovate, 1.5–4 cm long, 10–15 mm wide.
Inflorescence erect, 7–10 cm long, 1–6-flowered. Flowers not opening widely, white. Dorsal sepal c. 11 mm long, c. 6 mm wide. Lateral sepals c. 11 mm long, c. 3 mm wide. Lateral petals c. 11 mm long, c. 2.5 mm wide. Labellum folded back on itself so that apex is hidden by dorsal sepal; calli 4-horned; lamina lobes c. 4 mm long, 3 mm wide, oblong. Column c. 1.5 mm long; rostellum lobes c. 3 mm long, linear to triangular.
Flowering: October–November
Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows amongst litter on the floor of littoral rainforest; north from Coffs Harbour.
