Field Characters: Large canopy tree (up to 35 m high); Bole cylindrical (20-40 cm diam.); straight (bole 10-15 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark grey, rough, pustular, lenticels elongated vertically or slightly lenticels rounded/swelling; Subrhytidome (under-bark) green; less than 25 mm thick, 10.0; bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze yellowish white, yellow (pale (cream-coloured), pale orange, or pale brown, speckled (strongly pale brown), granular without splinters; inner blaze yellowish white, yellow (pale (cream-coloured), or pale brown, speckled (strongly pale brown), granular without splinters; bark exudate (sap) present, colourless, not readily flowing (spotty), colour changing on exposure to air, to dark green, not sticky; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent (simple hairs on axes of inflorescence).

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves broadest at or near middle, 7.0-12.0 cm, 3.5-5.5 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, acuminate, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green, upper surface green (glossy), indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, often flowers arising from a single point or flowers on a branched axis, cones absent; flowers unisexual, unisexual with male and female flowers on different plants, stalked, flowers with many planes of symmetry, 6.0-7.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (6-7 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white; 4-5, some or partly joined; stamens 8, present, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 4-6; styles absent (stigma sessile).

Fruits: Infrutescence often arising from single point or arranged on branched axis, fruit 10.0 (c.) mm long, dark red, not spiny, fleshy, simple, indehiscent, berry or drupe; seeds 3-6, to about 5 mm long, not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam.

Distribution: Morobe or Western Highlands.
