Field Characters: Large canopy tree (22-36 m high) or Small sub-canopy tree; Bole cylindrical (up to 85 cm diam.); straight (bole up to c. 25 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark occasionally grey or brown, slightly rough, fissured; Subrhytidome (under-bark) red; less than 25 mm thick; bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze red, markings absent; inner blaze red, markings absent; bark exudate (sap) present, yellow, flowing or not readily flowing (spotty), colour changing on exposure to air, to green, sticky; terminal buds enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) present, hairs dense.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, opposite (in pairs, opposite one another on the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves broadest above middle or broadest at or near middle, (1.8-) 2.3-4.0 cm, (1.0-) 1.3-4.5 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, rounded, venation pinnate, secondary veins closed, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface green, upper surface green, indumentum (hairs) present, indumentum (hairs) dense or sparse; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on an unbranched axis, cones absent; stalked; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 1.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on branched axis, fruit 12.0-18.0 mm long, dark blue or bluish black, not spiny, non-fleshy, simple, indehiscent, drupe; seeds 1, to about 5 mm long, not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam.

Distribution: Morobe or Western.
