Field Characters: Emergent tree (up to 90 m high); Bole cylindrical; straight (up to 300 cm diam.); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark dark brown, rough, peeling (horizontally) or pustular, lenticels elongated laterally; Subrhytidome (under-bark) red or brown; less than 25 mm thick (5 mm); bark blaze consisting of one layer; strongly aromatic; pine-like; outer blaze red or brown, markings absent, fibrous; inner blaze red or brown, markings absent, fibrous; bark exudate (sap) present, colourless, not readily flowing (spotty), colour changing on exposure to air, to golden-coloured, sticky; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.

Leaves: Leaves clustered at end of branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole absent; leaves broadest below middle, 7.0-9.0 cm, 1.0-1.5 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, acute, venation parallel-veined (not distinct), secondary veins closed, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface dull green, upper surface dull dark green, indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence terminal, flowers on an unbranched axis, flowers arranged in a cone (strobilus); flowers unisexual, unisexual with male and female flowers on the same plant, not stalked, flowers slightly asymmetric (male flowers) or with one plane of symmetry (female flowers), 10.0-(male flowers; female flowers)-40.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (2-3 mm diam.); perianth absent; stamens 5-(reduced to pollen cells on lower surface of scales)-8; ovary superior, carpels solitary, locules 1.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on unbranched axis, arrangement of fruits present, cone 120.0-150.0 mm, 100.0 (c.) mm, green or brown; seeds 1 (per scale, with many per cone), much more than 10 mm long (30-40 mm long), winged (2 wings, each c. 40 mm long), narrow (longer than wide), seed 1-10 mm diam. (c. 10 mm diam.).
