Field Characters: Large canopy tree or Small sub-canopy tree (up to 17 m high); Bole cylindrical (often slightly irregular near base, up to c. 30 cm diam.); straight (bole 8-9 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots occasionally stilt roots present or stilt roots absent; bark exudate (sap) absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) present, hairs dense.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, opposite (in pairs, opposite one another on the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves broadest above middle, broadest at or near middle, or occasionally broadest below middle, (5.0-) 6.0-8.0 (-12.0) cm, 4.0-6.0 cm; symmetric, entire or serrate to dentate (toothed) (shortly and obscurely), not dissected or lobed, obtuse or rarely acute, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green or brown (slightly hairs brown), upper surface green, indumentum (hairs) present, indumentum (hairs) dense; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on an unbranched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, stalked; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 2 (with 3 obscure locules); styles free, 1.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on unbranched axis, fruit 25.0-40.0 mm long, 20.0-24.0 mm diam., red, not spiny, fleshy, simple, indehiscent, drupe; seeds 2, about 10 mm long, not winged, narrow (longer than wide), seed 1-10 mm diam.

Distribution: Morobe, Western Highlands & Southern Highlands.
