Field Characters: Small trees up to about 15 m high or large trees 20-25 m high. Bole cylindrical 30 cm diam.; straight bole 15 m long; buttresses absent; spines absent; aerial roots absent; stilt roots absent. Bark white or grey, rough, scaly or flaky or slightly pustular; lenticels irregular; subrhytidome green; bark thickness <25 mm thick, 10.0 mm thick; blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; pleasant sweet; outer blaze pink or brown, speckled, fibrous; inner blaze pink or brown, speckled, fibrous; exudate present, colourless, spotty, changing colour on exposure to air, to green or brown, slightly sticky. Terminal buds enclosed by leaves young leaves; complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig hairy; hairs sparse.

Leaves: Spaced along branches <internodes readily visible>. Leaves spiral, simple; petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade <not peltate>, swollen <at tip, or base, or both> at base; lamina broadest at or near middle, 7.0-14.0 cm long, 3.5-6.0 cm wide; lamina symmetric, margin entire, not dissected or lobed, apex acute, venation pinnate <secondary veins arising from the midrib along its length>, secondary veins closed <spaced so close together that tertiary veins cannot be easily seen between them>, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins present; lower surface green, upper surface dark green, hairs absent; oil dots absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.
