Field Characters: Large trees 20-30 m high or small trees up to 10 m high, sometimes shrubs up to 5 m high. Bole cylindrical (15-)20-25 cm diam.; straight bole (2-)10-15 m long; buttresses absent; spines absent; aerial roots absent; stilt roots absent. Bark brown, rough, scaly or flaky; subrhytidome dark brown; bark thickness <25 mm thick, 4.0 mm thick; blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze pale yellow cream-coloured, markings absent, fibrous; inner blaze pale yellow cream-coloured, markings absent, fibrous; exudate absent. Terminal buds not enclosed by leaves; complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig without hairs.

Leaves: Spaced along branches <internodes readily visible>. Leaves spiral, simple; petiole present petiole 8-12 mm long, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade <not peltate>, not swollen; lamina broadest at or near middle or slightly broadest above middle, at least 5.0 cm long, at least 2.5 cm wide; lamina symmetric, margin entire, not dissected or lobed, apex obtuse or almost rounded, venation pinnate <secondary veins arising from the midrib along its length> often dark red-black, secondary veins open <spaced far apart to easily see tertiary veins>, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins present; lower surface yellowish green or pale green young leaves with reddish tinge, upper surface green, hairs present on lower surface, dense hairs minute, reddish brown; oil dots present; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary <from between a leaf and branch>. Flowers on a branched axis; flowers bisexual, stalked pedicel 1-2 mm long, with many planes of symmetry <actinomorphic> perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals, white or yellow; inner perianth 4-usually-5, free; stamens 100, filaments present, joined <connate> at base into staminal bundles, free of perianth; ovary inferior <seated below the petals and sepals; epigenous>, carpels joined (when more than one) <syncarpous>, locules 3; styles solitary <including joined together>, 1.

Fruits: Fruits arranged on branched axis. Fruit yellow or greyish black when old (over-mature), not spiny, non-fleshy, simple, dehiscent, capsule 3-valved. Seeds 100, not winged, longer than wide.

Distribution: Papuan Islands, Morobe & West Sepik.
