Field Characters: Large canopy tree (up to 30 m high) or Small sub-canopy tree (up to 20 m high); Bole cylindrical or markedly fluted (up to c. 50 cm diam.); straight (bole 10-25 m long); buttresses buttresses present (buttresses up to 2.5 m high) or buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark grey or brown, rough, fissured or pustular, lenticels rounded/swelling (scattered); Subrhytidome (under-bark) red; less than 25 mm thick, 10.0-13.0; bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze red or brown, markings absent; inner blaze red or brown, markings absent; bark exudate (sap) absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, sub whorled (with more than two leaves at one node of a branchlet), 3-4, simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, swollen (slightly (throughout); leaves broadest at or near middle, 6.0-7.0 cm, 3.2-4.5 cm; symmetric, entire or slightly crenate, not dissected or lobed, slightly emarginate or retuse or rounded, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green, upper surface green (glossy), indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules present, joined, joined across twigs, not encircling the twig, leafy, not fringed, large (up to c. 8 mm long), not persistent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers on a branched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, stalked, flowers with many planes of symmetry, 2.0 (c.) mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (2-3 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white, slightly green, or cream-coloured; 4, free; stamens 4, present, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 2; styles free, 2.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on branched axis, fruit 6.0-12.0 mm long, green or brown, not spiny, non-fleshy, simple, dehiscent, capsule; seeds 100, barely visible (to 1 mm long) (0.7-1 mm long), narrow (longer than wide), seed less than 1 mm diam.

Distribution: West Sepik, Madang, Morobe, Western Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Southern Highlands, Central, Milne Bay & Papuan Islands.
