Field Characters: Small sub-canopy tree (8-20 m high); Bole cylindrical (up to c. 20 cm diam.); straight; buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark slightly white or pale brown, slightly rough, peeling (slightly (papery); less than 25 mm thick; bark blaze consisting of one layer; strongly aromatic; pleasant; outer blaze pale brown, markings absent, fibrous; inner blaze pale brown, markings absent, fibrous; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) present, hairs dense to sparse (with white hairs).

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves sometimes broadest above middle, broadest below middle, or equally broad throughout much of length, 6.5-12.0 cm, 2.5-5.0 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, sub acute or acuminate, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, not prominent, but visible, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface green, upper surface dark green (glossy), indumentum (hairs) absent or present, indumentum (hairs) sparse (on lower parts of both surfaces); absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence terminal, flowers arising from a single point (with 2-3 flowers), cones absent; flowers bisexual, not stalked or stalked (shortly (subsessile), flowers with many planes of symmetry, 10.0-15.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (c. 3 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls (petals reduced to appendages between the calyx lobes) or petals absent (by misinterpretation), inner perianth yellow or pale green; 5, free (but joined to throat of floral tube at base of calyx lobes) or some or partly joined (by misinterpretation); stamens 5, absent, free of each other, joined to the perianth (joined to floral tube); ovary superior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 2; styles solitary, 1.

Fruits: Infrutescence arising from single point, fruit 15.0-18.0 mm long, green when immature, not spiny, non-fleshy, simple, dehiscent, capsule; seeds usually 1-2, about 10 mm long (c. 9 mm long, including appendage), not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam. (c. 6-8 mm diam.).

Distribution: West Sepik or East Sepik.
