Field Characters: Large canopy tree (10-35 m high, sometimes up to 50 m); Bole cylindrical (up to 150 cm diam.); straight (bole c. 25 m high); buttresses buttresses present; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark grey or brown, rough, scaly or flaky or pustular, lenticels elongated vertically; Subrhytidome (under-bark) red or brown; less than 25 mm thick, 10.0; bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; pleasant; outer blaze red or brown, with stripes, fibrous; inner blaze red or brown, with stripes, fibrous; bark exudate (sap) absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), compound (a leaf made up from two or more leaflets); petiole present (8 mm long), not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen or swollen (slightly at base); leaves with three leaflets (trifoliate); petiolule not swollen; leaves with a terminal leaflet (the number of leaflets odd - imparipinnate), broadest above middle, broadest at or near middle, or sometimes broadest below middle, 4.5-8.0 cm, 2.5-4.0 cm, leaflets arranged from one point, symmetric, terminal developing leaflet buds straight; venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface pale green or green, upper surface dark green, pale green, or green, indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence leaf-opposed, flowers on an unbranched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual, not stalked, flowers with one plane of symmetry, 25.0 mm long, diameter large (more than10 mm diam.) (12 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white or pale green; 4, free; stamens (3-) (male flowers) 4-6 (-8), absent, free of each other, free of the perianth; ovary inferior (female flowers), carpels joined (when more than one), locules 1 (because incomplete septum separating 2 locules); styles free, 3.

Fruits: Infrutescence arranged on unbranched axis, fruit ca 3.0 mm long, brown (fused with base of wing-like bract), not spiny, non-fleshy, simple, indehiscent, nut; seeds 1, barely visible (to 1 mm long) (1-2 mm long), not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam. (c. 1 mm diam.).

Distribution: West Sepik, East Sepik, Madang, Morobe, Western Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Southern Highlands, Western, Gulf, Central, Northern, Milne Bay & Papuan Islands.
