Field Characters: Large canopy tree (up to c. 35 m high, rarely taller); Bole cylindrical (20-90 cm diam.); straight (bole 12-20 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark grey or dark brown, rough or smooth, irregularly scaly or flaky or pustular, slightly lenticels elongated vertically; Subrhytidome (under-bark) red or brown; less than 25 mm thick, 15.0-20.0; bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze pale pink, markings absent, smooth (not fibrous); inner blaze pale pink, markings absent, smooth (not fibrous); bark exudate (sap) absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, spiral (leaves occurring singly at a node and arranged spirally up the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole absent; leaves broadest at or near middle or equally broad throughout much of length, 0.3-(adult plants with shorest leaves)-0.6 cm, 0.2-0.3 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, sub acute, venation parallel-veined, secondary veins closed, not visible, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface blue-green (dark (dull), upper surface blue-green (dark (dull), indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules absent.

Flowers: Inflorescence terminal (on short shoots), flowers single (female flowers) or flowers on an unbranched axis (male flowers), cones absent; flowers unisexual, unisexual with male and female flowers on different plants, not stalked or stalked (shortly (female cones), flowers slightly asymmetric, 1.0-(c. (female flowers)-2.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (c. 1 mm diam.); perianth absent; stamens 1, absent (anthers inserted on a flat scale), free of each other; ovary superior, carpels solitary, locules 1; styles absent.

Fruits: Infrutescence single, fruit 6.0-7.0 mm long, 7.0 (c.) mm diam., red or green (bluish (receptacle green), not spiny, non-fleshy or fleshy (receptacle fleshy), simple (sometimes referred to as a cone), indehiscent, naked seed only; seeds 1, about 10 mm long (6-7 mm long), not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam. (6-7 mm diam.).

Distribution: Madang, Morobe, Western Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Southern Highlands, Central, Northern & Milne Bay.
