Field Characters: Small sub-canopy tree (up to 20 m high); Bole cylindrical (c. 60 cm diam.); straight (bole c. 7 m long); buttresses buttresses absent; spines spines absent; aerial roots aerial roots absent; stilt roots stilt roots absent; Bark grey or dark brown, rough, scaly or flaky or pustular, lenticels irregular; Subrhytidome (under-bark) dark green; less than 25 mm thick, 5.0 (c.); bark blaze consisting of one layer; faintly to non-aromatic; outer blaze white or pink, markings absent; inner blaze white or pink, markings absent; terminal buds not enclosed by leaves.

Indumentum: Complex hairs absent; stinging hairs absent; mature twig indumentum (hairs) absent.

Leaves: Leaves spaced along branches, opposite (in pairs, opposite one another on the branchlet), simple (a leaf composed of a single blade); petiole present, not winged, attached to base of leaf blade, not swollen; leaves broadest at or near middle, 6.0-13.0 cm, 4.0-5.0 cm; symmetric, entire, not dissected or lobed, acuminate, venation pinnate, secondary veins open, prominent, intramarginal veins absent; leaves lower surface yellowish green, upper surface green (glossy), indumentum (hairs) absent; absent; domatia absent; stipules present, joined, joined across twigs, encircling the twig, collar-like, not fringed, large, persistent.

Flowers: Inflorescence axillary, flowers single or flowers on an unbranched axis, cones absent; flowers bisexual (pleasantly aromatic), stalked, flowers with many planes of symmetry, 2.0-3.0 mm long, diameter small (up to10 mm diam.) (c. 1.5 mm diam.); perianth present, with distinct sepals and petals whorls, inner perianth white, yellow, or cream-coloured; 5, some or partly joined; stamens 5, present, free of each other, joined to the perianth; ovary inferior, carpels joined (when more than one), locules 2; styles solitary.

Fruits: Infrutescence single or arranged on unbranched axis, fruit 8.0-12.0 mm long, 10.0 (c.) mm diam., red, not spiny, fleshy, simple, indehiscent, drupe; seeds 1, about 10 mm long (8-10 mm long), not winged, broad (as wide as long), seed 1-10 mm diam. (c. 8 mm diam.).

Distribution: Morobe or Western.
